March of Dimes wins a free intranet in global charity competition

For the past year we have been evaluating portal and content management software to replace the Oracle WebCenter Interaction platform we've been using since 2005.  Despite our basic needs there were red flags with the big competitors in terms of .NET/SQL support, development needs, usability, overall complexity, and of course cost.  Some smaller vendors came close but each seemed to miss a vital component such as AD support, intranet/extranet capability, custom portlet creation, .NET/SQL support, completeness, etc.

In January of this year we learned that the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was implementing a software called Interact-Intranet to handle their portal needs.  This UK based intranet company had somehow slipped through our radar and as we began to learn more about them it became clear that for a company of our size (1,500 employees) they are a legitimate contender.  A few days into our research Interact tweeted about a charity intranet giveaway and we eagerly submitted an entry.

Earlier this week Interact posted a press-release to officially award March of Dimes the prize of free intranet software!  Thanks Interact!!!

Our hardware has been ordered and we are eager to get their software installed and launched later this year.  Stay tuned for posts on:
